Moose Mountain: Hole 1

The course owned by the kids network, Nickelodeon. The first hole is pretty simple and open. A box of TNT is there for a bank shot, but like many of the holes here, the angles don’t make sense and are not necessary. I think it was mainly added to go with a mountain prospector theme. The greens are in pretty good shape but the tee-pads were in very rough shape.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 18

Black Course: Hole 18

Here we are, the final hole of the black course at Par-King Skill Golf. It is identical to the final hole of the red course with a roulette wheel. The scoring ranges from 0 (free game) to a dreaded 7! Like in real roulette, there really isn’t any skill involved just a bit of luck.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 17

Black Course: Hole 17

Not too often do you see a religious figure as a Mini Golf obstacle but Par-King Skill Golf does a good representation. All you can do is blindly go in the tunnel and hopefully hit the rock on the other side and bounce towards the hole. If you miss the rock you are more than likely ending up in the water, with a penalty and must then hit off of the penalty tee area.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 16

Black Course: Hole 16

An airplane rotates across the top of a tower and your job is to fly right under it in the skill shot. Straight as an arrow and into the cup is the best approach here. Going around is rather difficult as the angles are not favorable for a chance at a hole-in-one!

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 15

Black Course: Hole 15

An adult elephant and two baby elephants are just about ready to stampede so make your putt count. You have to hit up a narrow passage on a hill and be hard enough to make it over or you will roll back into a lip and then into the water for a two stroke penalty. Going up and around brings you on a narrow strip to a angled piece of concrete that when deflected properly brings you to the cup.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 14

Black Course: Hole 14

Around the bend and under Mister Turtle for this hole. If you make it about a third of the way up the bend there is a cutout spot but it won’t do too much for you in terms of getting near the hole. Hitting the wall under the turtle will help launch your ball in the direction of the hole.

A replica of the South Dakotan monument, Mt. Rushmore. If you look closely there are two paths that wrap around underneath Mr. Washington. If my memory serves correctly, you are going to want to hit the left side to wrap all the way around. However, either option isn’t really that bad of an outcome which makes this hole pretty easy.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 12

Black Course: Hole 12

This hole sort of creeps me out mainly because it looks like the clown hole from Happy Gilmore. Luckily this one won’t spit the ball back at you. The head rocking from side to side is what determines the direction and path the ball will take. The right side takes you closest to the hole while the left side has you end up pretty far away and you have to take in account a slight elevation change.

I’m not entirely sure what makes the ball go in the water on this one but it always seems like a shot that is hit very hard on the path on the right seems to be it. If you go right and it works in your favor, you can get a hole-in-one. If not it will come out the red ramp and in to the water with not a one but two stroke penalty! Fortunately the penalty tee box is a makeable putt. If you go left, it goes out the back for a rather hard follow up shot.

Personally, I love this hole! Either Hole is legal on the spinning platform, it is all about a smooth putt and timing. Even if you miss the hole as it is closest to you, you may have a chance at getting the one behind it. This hole is easier to get a hole-in-one on than it appears.

Week 2: League Results – Swing Time Germantown Open

We were graced with perfect weather for week 2 of league at Swing Time Germantown.

Our friends at CBS 58 stopped by to get some more footage of the league and interviewed a few of the players!

The segment was aired on Sunday, July 8th during the 7:00 AM morning show.

Also a great 16 Hole-in-ones were shot at SwingTime Germantown which means…more lotto tickets!

The total count is now at 37! Wow!

Black Course: Hole 9

The trumpeteer announces your arrival as a Mini Golfing legend! As he turns, the opening to get through changes direction. The hole is straight back but your timing has to be spot on to make it through otherwise you are down a slope on either side of the hole. Simple yet effective.

This hole totally reminds me of playing Gator Golf as a youngster.

I included a link above as Amazon has a few of these left! (It is an affiliate link through the Amazon Affiliate program) Basically Gator Golf was a fun looking ball return for kids.

For the hole, it is basically an adaptation of the classic around the bend type hole. The path on the right takes you closest to the hole. The path on the left wraps around and then drops in a cutout portion down to the lower green.

Black Course: Hole 7

This hole is probably the most iconic and memorable hole at Par-King Skill Golf. Nailing a narrow skill shot with enough power to get up the ramp is no easy feat as a miss ends up on the lower green but quite short of the hole. If the skill shot is accomplished, the ball is taken up an elevator and for a spectacle of a ride down the roller coaster. With a little luck, the ball will go in the hole.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 6

Black Course: Hole 6

Now here we have the Whirligig. This somewhat a different take on the classic loop-de-loop. There are 3 outcomes that can occur.

  1. Weak shot falls out below in a small yellow opening on the lower part of the green
  2. The ball goes up and over to the right and drops out the right side to the lower part of the green
  3. The ball goes up and left and drops on the upper green near the hole.

You do need a bit of power and a smooth stroke, not choppy or bouncy. It is actually quite a bit harder than it looks.

Par-King Skill Golf: Black Course – Hole 5

Black Course: Hole 5

Clubs, Diamonds, Spades, and Hearts all four suits in a deck of cards. Pretty much a straight shot with a small platform drop of about six inches. One thing to note is between the diamond and spade is a small hole (about three inches wide compared to the typical about four and a half) this hole leads to the actual hole with a rather fair chance at the hole-in-one. The only downside is if you miss, you still halfway to the hole. Personally, I think it is easier to just go for the main hole on a slight angle to avoid the smaller hole.
